    Respect for law awards

    050709tvrespectforlaw<br /> St. Clair County Sheriff Mearl Justus (second from left) and student Mikayla Scott, 11, (third from left) were the honorees at the annual West Side Belleville Optimist Club's "Respect For Law" luncheon. Sheriff Justus was honored for his commitment and professionalism during his career of over 56 years in law enforcement, and presented the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year award. Mikayla was honored for her role in leading the Drive Away Hunger food drive at Franklin School, where she is a fifth grader, and being a student representative for the school to the District 118 school board and was given the Respect For Law award. In the photograph, the honorees were joined by West Side Optimist Club President Judy Kampen (far left) and Mikayla's fifth grade teacher, Andrew Wilson (far right). Mikayla's parents - Darnell Scott and Tereasa (CQ) Davenport - were also in attendance at the luncheon, which was held at Fischer's Restaurant in Belleville on Thursday. <br /> BND/TIM VIZER STANDALONE
